I’m a sommelier–so I work all night, and by day I play. And by “play,” I mean I study and explore. Sometimes this means digging into guitar and piano and music production (Rock and flamenco speak most to my soul, but I can also groove out to hip hop, oldies, blues…and very occasionally, classical or country). Sometimes I obsess over languages (Italian is my favorite). It often means matters of money and investing (I’m a believer in Amazon). And my latest intrigue is technology: coding, website design (hence me here now), with the eventual notion that I might learn about machine learning, neural networks, and data science. But wait! For somebody who’s always thought of himself as good at math, and “academically-oriented,” I recently discovered I’d forgotten quite a bit of algebra, particularly when it came to factoring quadratic equations, and I know my Trig knowledge doesn’t go much beyond SOH CAH TOA, and while I remember the concepts of integrals and differentials, I’ve got some brushing up to do. Khan Academy, here I come…
But first, a couple quotes that motivate me.
Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Hard work is an essential element in tracking down and perfecting a strategy or in executing it.
